Tranquil location with very friendly staff, we received a welcoming gift and they helped us carry our bags. The room itself was well equipped and had a view of greenery.

Location, location, location. We stayed two nights and were lucky enough to have a sunny, clear spring day with the flowers in full bloom and Mt. Fuji on full display. What a beautiful site and such a well maintained garden. Hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

This is more of a hostel than a hotel but we liked it. I would recommend booking the double rooms with balcony and private toilet and shower. There are 2 double bunk beds but you are only allowed 2 people per room and were provided with toiletries and pyjamas. There was enough space for our luggage. The breakfast was a mix of western/japanese and I thought it was really good value and certainly filled you up! The location was pretty near the bus station, boat and very accessible for Lawson's and 7-11. The lounge area was really lovely with an open fire and had a really nice ambiance for relaxing in the evening. It was my son's birthday and they were very flexible in changing our rooms and the staff were always helpful and very friendly. Its a lovely quaint place to stay and my husband and I and our 2 adult children enjoyed our stay here!

Hakone is a fabulous destination. I recommend getting the free travel pass (it isn't free though) for ease of travel. The Hakone Open Air Museum is one of the best galleries I have been to worldwide. It is a must see and allocate a couple of hours for this one. The Venetian Glass Museum and Pola are fabulous. The ropeway and lake boat ride are also great and you can usually see My Fuji along the way. Book ahead at either or both of the Nobu restaurants - the best in the area. They close a little early so book for 6 or 6:30 if you can. Or lunch. And ride the Tozan Rail all the way for a beautiful experience. I hear the hydrangeas along the way are amazing In June - we were a little too early.

Hakone is a beautiful place with lots of greenery.
Hakone is a beautiful place with lots of greenery. The air pristine and refreshing. I would come back again . It is easy to get around especially with Hakone free pass. Every places of attraction was within easy reach really . Buses and train schedules were reliable. Only wish that the bus operators were more friendly. From my observations , maybe pay them more wages . Haha

Such a beautiful place - the best parts of Hakone and Motohakone were of course the sights. The mountains surround you and it is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. If you’re able to, I highly recommend taking the path along the lake in Motohakone and explore that way.

Two-night stay, with Hakone 3-day travel pass was just about right duration. Easy to navigate all areas of interest on the bus system. Amazing scenery viewed from the bus and at various stops along the way. Train trip to Gora and the Ropeway with views of Mt Fuji were among the highlights.

It rained during our 2 nights stay, but we enjoyed the town very much, wish we had more time to explore more local attraction in a leisure way.
Not sure buying those 2 day bus, boat and ropeway passes is worth it. Since we had 4 people, we used taxi a little bit, boat ride on the Lake and the ropeway only costed us less than half of the pass ONE WAY.
We walked a lot.
Highly recommend to check out "The Open Air Museum".
The second stop at the boat ride is much more interesting, we enjoyed seining the Hotel de Yama with Mount Fuji in the distance with many flowers blooming! A sight was very memorable. If you could book in advance for a lunch there would be ideal.

Hakone is beautiful and we could definitely have stayed longer. This was the only portion of our trip where we hired a car, and it really felt like we needed it. Everything is spread out, and we were very thankful about being able to visit other towns and attractions nearby.

This hotel checked all the boxes of what we expected for a ryokan (traditional Japanese onsen hotel). The Japanese style room was spotless and spacious with mountain view. The whole property is surrounded by well-maintained Japanese garden, which is a plus for a quiet morning walk and creates great view for outdoor onsen as well.
The service was great, walkable distance from main Hakone station. The restaurant was closed the time we visited, we'd love to come back for a whole experience.
Our host for the time, Mia, was just amazing. She works hard to make the experience of staying at this hotel truly memorable. It's the best accommodation experience we have ever had, and so personable. Everything from check-in, to the traditional Japanese foods for breakfasts and dinners, the private room-allocated onsen and check-out were just outstanding. I can't wait to return to Hakone and stay here.
The scenery surrounding the hotel was priceless. The calm, surreal and breathtaking view of the lake, which makes up for the distance that the hotel is located from the Hakone town (about 20 mins drive). Onsen was great, food was delicious and the staff were helpful. We (travelling with parents and 2 year-old) love our 2 night stays there!
The onsens and buffet were amazing, and the Japanese and western room was spacious and clean. The service was superb.
We used luggage storage services at Odawara station so that the we were able to walk to the hotel from Hakone-Yumoto station without any hassle. It was easy to find.
The onsen is great inside the hotel
Close to togendai station and the lake so you can reach that part of the cable car and ship easily. Also nice walk area
Direct bus to hakone yumoto station, which is a good touristy hub
