A quiet neighborhood, but walking distance to train/metro stations + center locations.

Worth every cent! What an experience! I wasn't sure at first (as I had the whole responsibility on me to decide for the group I was with) and if you're on a budget like we were, well this is a spend ..BUT..so happy I booked Ryokan Sumiya Kihon. As a tattooed group we had to rent private. It was hilarious to be butt naked with your best friends and ridiculously relaxing. The food is delicious. Breakfast= huge but Dinner = a little small for our crew. (Spanish/Australian mix). It's fine. Just bring snacks ;).

Incredible dedication to the traditional Japanese aesthetics. Beautiful rooms and 2 gardens and super comfortable beds. Absolute silence. The staff were super helpful and charming.

This property is in a fabulous location for walking through the older area of Kyoto and visiting temples, we were right in the middle of it. The staff were lovely and we felt that we had a real Japanese experience here. Lovely room, and en-suite with a fantastic bath. An experience we will never forget.
