The breakfast was pretty good, many options. The bed was comfortable and the pool was amazing, the only problem is that you can only use it after 10am. The gym was good.

The breakfast buffet and location proximity to tourist attractions are the big pluses for the royal olympic. Rooms are really small but our little veranda overlooking the pool was a nice surprise that made our stay more comfortable.

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.
The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.
Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.
We loved Athens. Would like to return again as we only scratched the surface of what this beautiful city has to offer. However, we would stay in a different hotel, closer to the plaka for easier access to taxis.

Athens is a nice city with a lot of interesting history. I would highly recommend that you a walking tour when visiting Athens as this will allow you to learn more fascinating details about the history of the city and Greece in general.
The Acropolis is great but it gets very busy and I would certainly recommend that you book in advance. There are many more things to see in Athens such as Syntagma Square, Panathenaic Stadium, Plaka Old Town, and you can even take a nice trip to the beach as it is only around 30 minutes away by tram.
The city gets very hot in the summer months so make sure that you go prepared with sun cream.

Athens was much more attractive city than expected. The Plaka neighborhood is great for walking because of the pedestrian streets, limited traffic, cafes, and easy access to historic sites. Easy to walk everywhere. Lots of cafes and street activity and very safe

Go to Monastiraki, there are many hosts that can offer a room with a view to the Parthenon and hot showers! For the same price one would rent you a basement without hot water and toilets inside the showers (still crying over the 216 euros I wasted on that).

Most activities are good to enjoy solo- do book one of the 8am Acropolis tours and I also did 2 excellent day trips with Key Tours to the Peloponnese and 3 islands. I stayed near Sygrou-Fix metro station and it was really easy to get around, walking. I'm a fit 71 yo. The metro link to the airport is very do-able, though may be challenging in peak hours or if you've arrived tired from a long flight. Avoid the peak season, which seems to start around mid May. Great for street life and the archeological and cultural heritage.

Athens is a city with deep historical roots, but it may not be the best destination for solo travelers. Many streets are dirty, poorly maintained, and filled with people experiencing homelessness, which can feel overwhelming and unsafe—especially after 11 p.m. The buildings are mostly old and unplanned, which sadly takes away from the beauty of the city's heritage.
While the Acropolis and other archaeological sites are iconic, the entrance fees are quite high, and the Acropolis Museum itself has surprisingly little to offer. The metro system is outdated, crowded, and often smelly, which adds to the general discomfort of getting around.
In short, while Athens holds great historical significance, the city’s infrastructure and atmosphere may not live up to the expectations of many modern travelers—especially those exploring alone.

The location was ideal as I was travelling from Athens the next day on the Ktel bus to Delphi. It was a short walk from the bus station. It was especially good as my Barclays account and the Greek bus company could not work together and I was unable to reserve my bus tickets until I got to Greece. Staying at the Roy meant I could go in person the day before I travelled. The hotelier explained the safety features of the room to me, which was excellent.
My wife and I were on a 8 day trip to Greece with 4 nights spent in Athens. The Locals Apartment in Kolonaki suited our stay in Athens perfectly. It was conveniently located and was clean. A minute’s walk to the metro, walking distance to Syntagma Sq., the Plaka, museums and the upmarket coffees shops and restaurants of Kolonaki. Would I stay there again? Yes absolutely. It was extremely well located and represented excellent value for money.
We spent our last two nights in Greece here and thoroughly enjoyed them. Absolutely amazing location of the hotel, excellent breakfast in the restaurant at the foot of the hotel. Amazing attitude of the staff, nothing was a problem. We needed a second key to the room and we were perfectly accommodated. The accommodation was clean and the equipment absolutely sufficient. We will definitely stay here next time we visit Athens. Highly recomnended!
The apartment is very local to the Anthoupoli metro -tube- station, within walking distance.
Was spotless clean, modern and well equipped.
The hostess was very polite, attentive and discreet. She knows how to make you feel welcome!
I’ve stayed at several places in Greece, this is one of the best! Should you wish to travel to Athens this is a great option located at the west part of Attica.
The Plaka is close enough to walk to many of the major antiquity sites. It is in the heart of a travellers shopping area with access to laneways of boutique fashion and jewellery shops. Breakfast in the hotel or wander to local cafes. At night venture to the roof bar and drink in the sites of ancient Greece over a cocktail.
