What an amazing city. The metro is super efficient.
What an amazing city. The metro is super efficient. Just over 8 Euros for 5 day tourist pass. Walked for miles each day exploring every region. Each a little different from the last. And who knew Athens has its own riviera? Fabulous food. And local wine was pretty good.

On day one we did an evening guided tour of the Acropolis which was perfect temperature wise. On day two we did a guided Segway tour of Athens which was great fun and better than a walking tour as we got to see so much more in the time.

Athens is a cosmopolitan city with a mixture of the ancient amongst its modern facilities. It seems a bit chaotic at times but the residents and tourists all appear comfortable with the relaxed attitude towards the noise and commotion. The Acropolis and Parthenon are wonderful of course but be wary of going in the heat of the day. The Acropolis museum is also fabulous ,although there was a lengthy queue to get in, There are abundant restaurants all serving traditional and modern dishes at a reasonable price...anytime of day and late into the night.

Great people and culture, rich history and heritage.
Great people and culture, rich history and heritage. I got to learn so much about the world through my first visit ever to Greece. The three islands we visited Poros, Hidra and Aegean were fantastic. Loved the welcoming and warm nature of everyone. Very homely place

We fell in love with Athens so much so that we were sad to leave it. We walked a lot to explore every nook and corner around Syntagma square, Acropolis area, Monastiraki and Plaka. The view of Acropolis at night was incredible.
I am Jain style vegetarian, still I had several options. Most people speak English and could understand my requirements.
Will recommend buying a city travel card for specific duration depending on the length of the stay. These cards can be purchased from metro stations.
Visit the Supermarkets for chocolates and other food items. Water is much cheaper in the supermarkets.
Cape Sunion was beautiful around the sunset time. A Half-day trip is recommended. Nafplio was also a very beautiful town. One can plan a day quiet relaxing day there. And the island of Hydra was also picturesque. I will not recommend Corinth canal or Mycenae. In fact in the day trips to 3 islands don't give much time to explore any one of them properly. We went to Poros and Aegina as well. but there was very little time to explore these islands. So, basically not recommended.

Gorgeous hotel in the Plaka district of Athens. Steps away from a huge choice of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Rey conveniently located to the metro from the airport, we arrived into Syntagma square and had an easy walk ( 5 or 6 minutes) to the hotel. Our room was beautiful, and had a fab view of the Acropolis. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace had an even better view and the service, setting and food was one of the best breakfasts I’ve eaten in a hotel. Highly recommend the Electra Palace if you are staying in Athens.
I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this apartment in Greece! Located in the best area of the region, it offered unparalleled convenience and charm. Everything was incredible, from the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the stunning interior design.
The amenities were a standout feature, truly next level couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Athens. A flawless experience from start to finish!
A warm and friendly, English speaking staff, clean, quiet hotel…excellent location (for going into Athens or traveling on to central & northern Greece.) Walking distance to a nice supermarket, 15 min walk to many restaurants. Very nice patio/porch seating for coffee or cocktails, in a garden space.
Breakfast was the best we had in Greece. The restaurant is in a beautiful location on the rooftop, and there is a large selection of items. Location was great, and the best part was the pool and view of Athens. Incredible!
